Such a easy tasty dish that almost all Indian households eat every day and plenty of variations! Strive it with two lentils to create a creamy texture- my mums recipe! By doing a double tarka/tempering actually does take this to Dhal to a different stage.
-180g Pink lentil dal (Arhar Dal/ Toor dal )
-100g Chana Dal (Cut up Bengal Gram)
-3 tbsp vegetable oil
-1 tsp cumin seeds
-1 medium finely chopped onions
-5 tbsp of passata or finely chopped tomatoes.
-large piece of ginger finely chopped/grated.
-1 massive inexperienced chilli finely chopped
-½ tsp turmeric powder and salt.
-Spices, 1/2 tsp of garam masala, salt, gentle chilli energy.
-Handful of finely chopped coriander
For the tadka/ tempering
-2 tbsp vegetable oil
-1 curry leaf
-1 dried gentle chilli
2 garlic cloves finely chopped
-1/2 tsp of gentle chilli powder, salt, garam masala, cumin powder
-Boil the lentils in a pan together with turmeric and salt. Give it boil for 15-20 minutes ensuring it would not flip to mush or burn.
-In a pan add the oil and fry the cumin seeds, ed by the ginger, chilli. As soon as that has turned a golden brown add remaining spices and the tomatoes and prepare dinner right down to a darkish crimson paste, sauce.
-Add the tadka to boiled lentils, combine properly and prepare dinner for an extra 10-15 minutes on medium warmth, add 100ml water.
-Flip off and add the coriander.
